We are seeking Yorkville University MACP students to complete their placement with us in Jan 2024.  The positions include a blend of online and in person therapy in Georgetown, ON. 

About Us

 

Couples Therapy Centre (CTC) is a respected psychotherapy & counselling practice, founded in 2020 and headquartered in beautiful Georgetown, Ontario. We provide virtual and in-person counselling and psychotherapy services to couples, individuals, families and youth for a wide range of issues.  CTC is looking for graduate students who are looking to establish themselves in Ontario in a group practice. The graduate student will work under the Site Supervision of Joseanne Spiteri, RP and under the Clinical Supervision of an external Clinical Supervisor who meets Yorkville supervision requirements.

Site Supervisor is a Yorkville graduate and is keenly aware of placement requirements and very supportive to your learning.

A flexible schedule.

Client referrals.

Marketing, booking software and clinic email.

One peer consultation group meeting per week.

Exposure to virtual and in person counselling modalities. 

Opportunity to work with various populations (16 and above), including individuals and couples.

Opportunity to deeply immerse in EFT modality for couples.

Regular phone, text and email support.

Exposure to the running of a private practice.

Opportunity for continued employment upon graduation.

 

About You

 

You are a committed and passionate Yorkville University MACP student. 

You have an interest in working with couples and adult individuals (16 and over). 

You are available to offer in person therapy in Georgetown, On

You take your ethical responsibilities seriously and practice evidenced-based care, within the scope of your skills and knowledge.

You are an excellent communicator (written and verbal).

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

 

Prior counselling experience is preferred (volunteer work is suitable).

Have completed or seeking registration with CRPO for the purpose of providing Psychotherapy.

Be very comfortable with technology and willing to use technology in daily practice.

Previous experience with Electronic Medical Records systems and/or JaneApp is an asset.  

Have access to consistent high-speed internet, a private home office space, and the ability to conduct teletherapy      sessions.

Complete Criminal Records Check.

Have your own Student liability insurance, including telehealth insurance. 

Interest in and demonstrates continuing education.

You support and contribute to a healthy workplace that embraces lifelong learning, diversity, clinical teamwork, privacy, and adherence to professional standards of practice.

Hours Required:

 

You are available for 15 direct client hours.  (3 five-hour shifts over the course of 3 days per week)

2 afternoon/evening shifts and 1 weekend shift are required (Saturday or Sunday)

Your shifts must be in-person in our Georgetown office location. 

You must be available for 1 hour of online weekly supervision with an external supervisor.

You must be available for a 1-2 hours per month for psychological supervision online meeting with Psychological Associate. (There is no charge to you for this supervision and they can count towards your CRPO supervision hours)  

You must be available for 1-hour weekly peer consultation meeting (Mondays at 12pm)

Specific Training Required: ​

Must complete Emotionally Focused Therapy Externship prior to the start of placement.  Visit www.iceeft.com for more information.
